Prayertime this August

Called to excel

“Do you say on Monday morning, ‘Oh no! It’s Monday again!’ or on Friday evening,
‘Thank God it’s Friday!’ Or do you habitually come late to office or for appointments?”

Rex Resurreccion started his talk by asking those questions. A seasoned speaker, he is also a professional trainer/consultant and author of the book Called to Excel. On June 21, Makati Influencers invited him to speak for its monthly gathering, Prolink. He inspired a group of us ninety professionals to be excellent in our professions or callings. Furthermore, he underscored the value of work, the importance of having financial discipline, and love for our country. At the end of the talk, Rex presented the Gospel— telling people that living an excellent and abundant life is part of God’s plan for us.

But things did not start as smoothly as it ended. A few hours before this event, we got a call from the manager of Mcdonalds telling us that they were closed since lunchtime due to the breakdown of power supply in the building. No definite time was given on when it will be fixed.

Should we look for another venue? But how will we tell all those people who have been invited to this event? I dismissed the thought right away, thinking that this was just a spiritual battle. Or else, why would the power supply breakdown happen on this specific day? Instead of scouting for another venue, we prayed and asked God to glorify Himself in this situation. An hour later, the power supply was restored, giving Mcdonalds just enough time to open and prepare for our event that evening. Praise God!

I was so encouraged by the good feedback of people who attended that event. They were inspired by the message and thanked us for organizing that meeting.

It is times like these that make me say, “I love my job!” I like to see people being helped in their personal and professional life. I’m thrilled to see people being drawn to God and grow in their faith.
