Starting the year right
Many of us start the year by looking back on the things we have accomplished and by jotting down those that what we want to do for the new one that has come. Some still come up with the age-old list of resolutions that seemed to be a replica of the one that was done the past year. Nothing wrong in that. We must all look back and glimpse ahead in order to survive this chaotic world. This is a way of learning from our mistakes and try to be better for this year. But is it enough? What must one do in order to be prepared for another 365 days of surprise, painful or wonderful?
The Influencers this side of town decided to start the year right: by emphasizing on the value of prayer as we start the year. Last January 12, several of us got reunited together at IBC and talked about two of God’s many characteristics.
He is UNCHANGING.
He is the SHEPHERD in our lives.
We were reminded once again that God is the same today, tomorrow and forever. There is no need to worry about our future for He is our guide.
And so we basked in God’s presence as we prayed.

A week after that, all area ministries of Influencers International gathered together at the Fort (fourth floor of CCC office). Each one, with words written on paper or recited silently from the heart, spent an intimate prayer time with God. It was the right time to bring up to God all that is within us. Lift up the burdens. Ask for forgiveness. Shed the tears. Seek His will. Took hold of His promises. Just prayed.
But then, as a body, everyone received a reminder from Gin : SEEK GOD’S PRESENCE MORE THAN HIS PROMISES. We sometimes tend to act like little children, who do not know any better, and we just love the gift but forget the Giver. Learn from Moses who demanded of God to be with them or else they, the Israelites, would not depart from where they were. Moses knew that God is sufficient. And we saw what God did in their lives.

As the first month of the new year is about to end, let us all ask ourselves several questions. Have you spent enough time with God? Have you recently asked Him to be always with you? Have you sought His guidance as you plan and make decisions?
God, being our SHEPHERD, is ready to guide us. But we must hear His voice.
Go now and pray. It is the best way to start the year right!
